From copy services to full co-operation: bringing HIT Training Ltd on board as a full-service client

Overview

HIT Training Ltd (HIT) is a leading provider of apprenticeships and training for businesses in the service industries. It supports companies across the UK to grow their workforces and establish reliable talent pipelines.

Originally, HIT approached Ketchup with its copywriting needs. As the relationship evolved, trust grew [they loved our work].

Eventually, HIT came onboard as a full-service client. That means we now provide the full spectrum of outsourced marketing services, from ‘business as usual’ to brilliant new strategies.

AN EVOLVING [PROFESSIONAL] RELATIONSHIP

In the beginning, our relationship with HIT was limited in scope. HIT came to us for support with its copywriting, and we delivered, working across blogs, articles, web pages, and campaign landing pages.

When we began to talk strategy, HIT was all ears. We wanted to expand our professional relationship, as we could see HIT’s potential for growth. So we onboarded HIT as a full-service client, and became its outsourced marketing partner, rather than just a copy service.

What does ‘outsourced marketing’ mean?

When we say ‘full service’ marketing, we really mean it: Ketchup has become an extension of the HIT team. With a dedicated brand manager assigned to the portfolio, we join HIT’s marketing meetings, and guide its marketing team through a bespoke [Ketchup-designed] strategy so that everyone’s on the same page.

We’re always looking to deliver the next big ‘wow!’ on behalf of HIT, to really set it apart from the competition.

HIT has lots of expertise across several brands. As well as HIT, which focuses on hospitality, catering and retail apprenticeships, there is also Connect2Care (C2C), which trains people in the early years, care and funeral sectors, and EDN, which promotes management and leadership.

Stakeholder management is therefore key. There are many different ideas and campaigns across an organisation focused on several business sectors. We want to make the most of everything HIT has to offer [and shout about all its best bits].

To do this, HIT’s Ketchup Brand Manager looks to set the right plans and pathways to success, and align our marketing strategy with HIT’s business goals. All this takes trust; we’re very proud of the relationship we’ve built with HIT, and the amazing results we’ve been able to achieve for it.

Learning by doing

HIT practices what it preaches: a significant percentage of the HIT team has come through apprenticeships and training courses, and been retained within the business. For Ketchup, as highly-experienced marketing professionals, the opportunity to help add to that training process has been really rewarding. Our full-service relationship is at the intersection of marketing and industry experience, and we’ve learned as much from HIT as HIT has from us.

The initial service we provided to HIT. Our copy expertise was required to produce HIT’s web content, blogs, training material and articles. HIT contains several brands within the overarching business portfolio, each with its own website and unique tone of voice. This required the Ketchup copywriters to learn, adapt and ensure that every page produced was on point.

As the relationship developed, we began to optimise our copy for SEO, hitting keywords in order to improve HIT’s Google search rankings. Our incredible results were achieved in the first three months of our full-service relationship, in a highly competitive landscape. Our goal is to improve HIT’s rankings even more [the sky’s the limit].
